Bell Restoration Committee

The Committee supports ringing societies and individual towers by providing information and advice on fund raising; bell restoration funds; charitable trusts and other resources. It also administers bell restoration funds on behalf of the Council.

Current activities

Members of the committee support ringing societies and individual towers by:

speaking to gatherings of ringers and those involved in fund raising,
providing advice on the establishment and administration of bell restoration funds,
providing advice and support on fund-raising activities,
arranging occasional conferences and meetings about bell restoration funds and associated subjects,
providing access to the FunderFinder software for information on charitable trusts
investigating possible sources of funds, local labour and other resources to help in bell restoration,
publishing information on bell restoration topics in booklets, brochures and leaflets and in The Ringing World,
administering the Central Council's Bell Restoration Fund and the Fred E Dukes International Bell Fund.

The Committee's services and advice are generally free of charge although stamped addressed envelopes and the reimbursement of travel expenses are appreciated.

Terms of reference

To promote the restoration and provision of rings of bells, by investigating and disseminating information on:

sources of funds and other resources
fund management and charitable status;

to administer such funds as are from time to time available for distribution by the Council for bell restoration; and

to raise funds on behalf of the Council for the purpose of bell restoration.
