2018 Meeting – Practical Information

A map of the facilities at Lancaster University is shown at the bottom of this page.

The activities of the weekend will be based around The Faraday Complex, County South and The Great Hall, as shown on the map.

Help Desk

A Help Desk will be operated in the foyer of The Faraday Complex. It will be open during the following times:

Saturday 9.00am to 6.00pm
Sunday 9.00am to 6.00pm
Monday 9.00am to 5.00pm

All representatives will be allocated a lanyard and id badge. Please collect it from the Help Desk. We ask you to please wear it at all times.

Members of the organising committee will have an Orange badge.

A help line will be available from 10.00am to 7.00pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Accommodation.

Guests staying at Lancaster House Hotel will be required to check in at the hotel individually. The address of the hotel is:

Please note that Lancaster House Hotel is about a 750 yard walk to the Faraday Complex.

A pop up reception will be available for Campus bedrooms. This will be available in the foyer of the Faraday Complex, next to the Help Desk, on Saturday between 12.00 and 3.00pm.

At other times, check in will be at the Bowland Hall Reception (BLH on the attached map, North Campus)

Check In Time:
Weekdays: 2:00 – 8:00pm
Weekends: 2:00 – 7:00pm

Late Check In (after respective Check In times): Please collect keys from the University’s Security Lodge (SEC on the attached map, North Campus), which is open 24 hours a day.

Check Out Time: 10:00am

For guests staying in campus bedrooms who have chosen our B&B option, breakfast will be served at The Marketplace (COS on the attached map, North Campus).

Weekdays: 07:30 – 10:00am
Weekends: 08:00 – 10:00am

For guests staying at the Lancaster House Hotel, check-in is from 3:00pm & check-out until 11:00am. The hotel has a 24 Hour reception.

Car parking

Campus Parking

Visitor parking is indicated on the map, by letters A to L. Parking is free on campus after 6pm each evening and is free during weekends. Car parking charges are in force on Bank Holidays. (Please enquire at the help desk regarding car park passes). All the visitor zones have a pay and display machine should anyone arrive onto campus earlier. Guests staying on campus on Tuesday morning should check with the appropriate receptions as to car parking arrangements.

Hotel Parking

Lancaster House Hotel is situated adjacent to the university campus and can be easily accessed from Green Lane, just off the A6.

Seminars and Meetings

All seminars and meetings (except belfry maintenance) will be held in the Faraday Complex (FAR on the map. Details of times and locations are shown below and will be available at the Help Desk. The belfry maintenance seminar is being held at St John Pilling, and details are available separately.

Social Events

The Saturday evening social and Ceilidh will be held in The County Bar, also known as The Northern Oak (opposite the Private Dining Room). (COS on the map). This will start at 7.30pm. A buffet meal will be served at 8.30pm. The bar will be open until 11.30pm

The Annual Dinner will be held in The Great Hall on the Sunday evening at 7.00pm for 7.30pm. (GHC on the map.)

Real ale will be available at both events.

Lunch

Pre-booked lunch on Sunday and Monday will be held in The Private Dining Rooms (PDR) in County South (COS on the map).

Adopt a tower – Sunday Service Ringing.

If you have been allocated a tower for Sunday Service Ringing, please make every effort to attend – the local ringers will be expecting you. If you need help with transport, or can offer a lift, please get in touch via the help desk.

Mobile Belfry

The Lichfield Mobile Belfry will be in attendance on Saturday and the Sunday, and will be located between the Chaplaincy (CPC on the map) and the Security Office, on Bowland Avenue. It will be available for ringing at the following times:

Sat 12.30 to 5.00pm
Sun 11.00 to 5.00pm

If you would like to book a quarter peal attempt on the belfry, please enquire at the help desk.
