Born 4th quarter 1893. One of four children, two boys and two girls. Son of Elizabeth Ingham of Parvey Farm, Sutton, Cheshire, and the late William Henry Ingham (died 1912). At the time of the 1911 census he was working as a farmer labourer at Shadeyard, Sutton Cheshire and was lodging with Ernest William Cooper and his wife Emma Cooper. After the death of his father it is believed he helped with the management of Parvey Farm, Sutton, Cheshire. He attended St. James's Schoool in Sutton, Cheshire. Both his father and elder brother, Charles William Ingham, were ringers at Sutton. He joined the army in February 1917 and went to France in May 1917 and he was killed when a shell burst close to his gun. His brother served in the Royal Navy during the Great War which he survived. He is recorded in the Roll of Honour as "A Ingham" and on the Chester DG Roll of Honour as "Arthur Ingham" but this has been proved to be incorrect and is put right here.
