Bell Sunday 2023 was a quiet year for our first attempt to introduce a day where the contribution of bells and Bellringers to the life of the Church is recognised. This was mainly due to the King’s Coronation the week before, where a lot of the attention and effort was directed. However, a number of towers have shared on social media and through The Ringing World what they were able to achieve.
In 2024 St Dunstan’s Day falls conveniently on Sunday, 19th May; however, as this is Pentecost, we have agreed with representation from the Clerical Guild that 12th May would be more appropriate.
A wealth of supporting resources, including hymns/songs/music, Bible readings, general readings, and poetry, is available from www.bellsunday.org. I’m grateful to those who have supplied additional material to add here. You can also add your church to the list of venues participating.
It would be great to include a Gallery of photos from this year, so if you have any to share, please send them to me at (make sure you have the permission of anyone in the photo before you share it).
Make a note of the date in your diary now and start thinking about how we can make this a great annual event in the Church and bellringing calendar.
