The new UniversityRinging.org website is live!

This is the first of a suite of websites being developed by the Young Ringers for Ringing 2030 Workgroup as part of the Young Ringers Hub initiative. The Young Ringers Hub will be a one stop shop for young ringers from school age to age 30 and consists of University Ringing, Under 18s, Resources for Leaders and a Development pathways site that aims to promote the development of young ringers.

The original University Ringing site was created by Jacqueline Brown as the reference for university ringing opportunities. It was initiated under the Public Relations Committee of the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (CCCBR). In line with the CCCBR’s Ringing 2030 vision, the project has been adapted and modernised so it sits alongside CCCBR branding and the wider Young Ringers work. It is PC and mobile friendly.

This University Ringing site is a simple, friendly directory of university bell ringing societies  and other locations where there aren’t established societies in the UK and beyond. It’s designed to help students easily discover local ringing, keep information accurate and up to date and celebrate the breadth of university ringing and help it grow.

Where there isn’t an established student ringing society, we have included information by location that encompass academic institutions. We have referenced the list of UK universities by enrolment to make sure we cover as many institutions as possible.

The site will maintained and continuously improved by the Young Ringers workgroup within the CCCBR.

The site includes:

  • A searchable list of university societies and guilds, including basic details for each group (location, contact details, etc.) If the location you are looking for doesn’t have an entry, a “contact us” button pops up, which will direct your query to the Young Ringers Workgroup.
  • A detailed UniversityRinging | Resources section with best practice help and guidance for recruitment & retention, running a society and looking after your tower.

We also have dedicated and linked Facebook (University Ringing) and Instagram (University.ringing) pages, so please follow, like and get in touch!

A huge thanks to everyone who has been involved in getting this website over the line. These include the following:

  • Adrian Sweeting, who carried out a survey of University societies to help refresh our information and identify best practice to inform our resources site
  • Tristan Lockheart, who initiated the Young Ringers Hub concept and has project managed the development of the new University Ringing site
  • Lucas Williams, who has carried out the bulk of the website build as part of the Summer Honorariums initiative, with Oliver Bennett picking up further development.
  • Nikolai Komar has picked up the content development work, following  initial work from Inga Griffiths-Hunt.

The Workgroup will be continuing the development of the University Ringing site and will also be  moving on to develop the Under 18s and the Resources for Leaders  sites and plan to launch the Young Ringers Hub around June / July 2026. The Workgroup will also be at the Ringing World National Youth Contest and National 12 bell final.

We would love to hear your feedback on the new website and always welcome volunteers to support us in this important work. Please contact us at
