The Young Ringers for Ringing 2030 Workgroup is looking for enthusiastic young ringers aged between 18 and 30 to create content for the new University Ringing and Young Ringers Hub websites and the school lesson plans project. There are three summer honorariums, each set at £2000, available across three work packages. Each are envisaged to take 6-8 weeks each, assuming working half time (18 hours per week). Information and guidance will be provided to support the successful candidates.

As part of the honorarium, you will also need to produce a blog post describing the work that you did and what knowledge you gained, which will be used on the Central Council website and other Council-run communications channels.

The following sets out the outline remit for each of the honorariums. The exact scope and deliverables will be confirmed with the successful candidates and remuneration will be aligned to specific agreed deliverables.
1. University Ringing
This project is creating an updated website with new content based on the outputs of a survey of university societies that has recently been carried out. Phase 1 of the project is planned to deliver in time for the Autumn 2025 term. This involves building a new website with a new structure, refreshing the look & content, updating details, pictures etc. Phase 2 will follow and will include more involvement of societies in editing, social media integration, interactive content, linking to Bellboard etc.
Key activities will include:
- Data analysis from survey, identifying key requirements for guidance
- Create templated guidance based on survey outputs for inclusion in the University Ringing website
- Support the website build team in refreshing look & content, updating contact details, process for keeping up to date, pictures etc
- Reference relevant RW articles
- Work with marketing team to deliver PR campaign to support launch of phase 1
- Work with the team on phase 2 if time allows.
2. Young Ringers Hub
The Young Ringers Hub (YRH) is a “one stop shop” for young ringers and will include sub sites for under 18s ringing, 18-30s (including the Young Change Ringers association), the University Ringing site and resources for leaders.
Key activities will include:
- Work with technical team to translate the design brief into the website design
- Pull together relevant information e.g. other websites for referencing in the appropriate YRH sub site
- Map out what the new website contains
- Identify content to be incorporated from other projects e.g. youth groups, schools
- Create case studies for inclusion in the YRH e.g. mini ring event, youth group / school tower visits, enrichment syllabus etc
- Migration plan for information from Interim YRH
- Work with marketing workgroup to create PR campaign to land the YRH
3. School Lesson Plans
School lesson plans are a PR tool to raise awareness of ringing in schools, by aligning ringing to the national curriculum across all subject areas. The plans have been drafted and require work to review, trial, finalise and publish.
Key activities will include:
- Work with project leads and teacher volunteers to review lesson plans and get them fit for purpose
- Sequence and reference plans
- Work with branding team to create PowerPoint teaching resources
- Create training materials for teachers
- Create templated “what next” information to signpost opportunities to learn to ring locally
- Produce guidance on when ringers need to be involved and how to work with local towers
- Identify resources required to make the product sustainable
- Work with Marketing team and volunteer teachers on a PR and marketing strategy
- Consider how the plans could be adapted for use in other countries
