We greatly regret to announce the death on Saturday 19 October of John Barnes, Fellow (Life Member) of the Council. John had been a member since 1969 and was elected a Life Member in 2016 for his services to bell restoration, particularly as parish contact.
John was a representative for the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths until being elected a Life Member in 2016. He attended 51 Central Council meetings and during his tenure served on the Library Committee (1974-1975 and 1976-1978), the Bell Restoration (Funds) Committee (1975-2018, and was chairman from 1975-2000), the Administrative Committee (1975-2000) and the Centenary Committee as Chairman (1989-1990).
