Application:

Last year, having successfully completed a quarter peal of Bob Doubles in January, I felt much more confident in ringing alone among the rest of the band at St. Paul's Geelong. I was furthermore able to call Bob Doubles myself and to take a part on the treble in some of the more complicated methods. I was also able to fill in when we had fewer ringers at the tower, and to support other learners during practice on Monday nights. I have been able to call go and stop for the simpler methods in my home tower, and directed call changes on five to seven bells.
At times, I have helped to clean out the tower for workmen to come and modify the flaps at the top of the tower. On another occasion, when the clapper fell out of the tenor, I squatted underneath and held up the clapper while another ringer screwed the nut on.
Today, I assisted my teacher in inspecting the bells and their stays. While looking at a stay, I noticed that one of the bolts holding the seven bell to its headstock had fallen out. Having collectively found the bolt and washers, I screwed the nuts on while Inga Griffiths screwed from the bottom.
If I acquire this award, I plan to do one of the following:
A. Fly to the United States and attend several ringing towers in or near Pennsylvania.
C. Fly to the UK to ring at twenty or so towers there.
Sincerely,
Xavier Lewis
