Hello CCCBR,
My name is Daniel Holmes à Court. I’m a 14 year old bell ringer at Odiham, All Saints, in the Basingstoke district. I’ve been ringing for 3 years and I am on the Odiham committee as project lead. Over the past year at Odiham I have organised multiple things and also built a mini ring with my dad!

Here are some of the things I have done:
* Organising and tolling for a funeral
* Organising a band for a school service x3
* Organising ringing at South Warnborough (which I’m on the path to become tower captain at)
* Organising a Battlefields trip to Ypres
* Organising 2 Tower outings
* Building a mini ring
* Organising a trip to Portsmouth cathedral
* Being the editor of our Guild newsletter
* Organising and running the Robert Mays school ringing band
* Organising installing a dumbbell into Odiham

Recently, I was asked by the tower captain (due to my role as Project lead in the tower) to organise and ring for a funeral.

I suggested to my school headmistress that we ring for our annual school church services which she was very pleased to introduce and educate ringing. We’ve done this 3 times now.

Another one of the trips I’ve organised was a trip to Ypres, Belgium, to ring the bells there and go around to the cemeteries nearby and lay wreaths for a ringer and two school students. This was greatly enjoyed by the 9 ringers who went.

I also organised our annual tower outing to Wiltshire. This has been shown interest by a band of 35 people.

I’m also in the process of organising our mini outing as a first time event.

I recently have offered to be a writer for our new Quarterly Guild Newsletter.

I have been very keen to create a portable ring that can be used at events and alongside my Dad have worked really hard on creating a portable ring of flower pots. In the prototype stage, I was able to take them along to our annual district meeting, which created a lot of interest, From there I have engaged with another local ringer to improve the clappering and the go of the pots. With this project in mind, I have been able to secure a place at our local scouting meetup (Beastly26) where around 1700 scouts will attend and have the opportunity to find out about bellringing. Using contacts from the Guild, I have managed to man the stall including other young ringers who I have met through the Guild youth.

I am also trying to organise a ringing team for my school. This is so that we can introduce school students to ringing.

I’m trying to get a dumbbell into the tower as well, which is only at the stage of getting a quote.

If I win, I would use the money towards the tower dumbbell and perhaps another ringing expedition.

Thank you
Daniel Holmes à Court
