The CWGC website shows his age as “29” but this is believed to be incorrect.
Biography
Born 16/11/1915. Son of James Davis of 77 Bowbridge Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire and the late Lillian Beatrice Davis (nee Mallett, died 1925, in Newark, Nottinghamshire). Husband of Margaret Amy Davis (nee Smith) whom he married in September 1942, of 92 Nottingham Road, New Basford, Nottinghamshire. In 1939 he was a Police Constable and was lodging with the parents of his future wife, William Frederick Smith and Edna B. Smith. He is remembered on the Nottingham City Police War Memorial at Nottingham Police Station, Byron House, Maid Marion Way, Nottingham and on the War Memorial in Newark, Nottinghamshire. He was originally buried at Le Haut d'Audrieu but his remains were exhumed and reburied at Hottot-Les-Bagues War Cemetery on 23/09/1944.
