St Marys Wimbledon is close to the All England Lawn Tennis Club and the spire can be seen at the end of the television broadcast. Our Wednesday practices can often be heard from the court. There are many connections between the church and the club, in the past we have even held Harvest lunches in the Debenture holders lounge. Some of you may have parked in the church field or churchyard before watching the tennis. On Wednesday June 23rd a film crew came to record our ringing and the bells. We rang rounds on 8 and also 1278 which seems a strange combination but it fitted in with the filming they had done of the bells. We had thought that it would just be included in the club’s celebrations of 100 years on the present site but it now transpires that we will be on BBC1 on Sunday July 3rd at about 1pm.
